Sybase’s strategy is to be the global leader in the Unwired Enterprise market. Our acquisition strategy is to find unique information management and mobile technologies to extend our leadership. Recent Acquisitions: 2009 paybox - Leading mobile money infrastructure paybox solutions AG was recently acquired to advance Sybase’s Unwired Enterprise strategy, and extend its leading mobile infrastructure to include mobile payments. With this acquisition, Sybase now empowers its mobile operators, financial institutions and merchants with a full-suite of mobile payment solutions that can launch mobile commerce services to their customers in both emerging and developed markets. 2008 Cable & Wireless - Sybase strengthened its leadership position in mobile messaging services by acquiring the MMS Hubbing service from Cable & Wireless. This allows Sybase to enter the GRX-based international MMS interoperability market with almost 40 direct customers, and reach to over 250 mobile operators. 2007
Coboplan - The addition of Coboplan's market-leading Geographic Information System (GIS) software solutions marks another key milestone in Sybase's Unwired Enterprise strategy. The GIS technology combined with Sybase solutions further enables growth in the areas of corporate CRM systems, Sales Force automation and Field Force automation systems, embedded car telemetry and home embedded systems. 2006
iFoundry Systems - Sybase acquired certain assets from iFoundry Systems to provide customers with a more complete embedded software solution. The additions include the business of licensing short-range wireless interconnect protocol stacks and providing software consulting, training and professional engineering services to mobile device OEMs, ODMs and chipset manufacturers to enable these technologies on their respective platforms. Sybase also gained embedded software intellectual property to augment its portfolio of Sybase iAnywhere mobile device solutions with additional integrated technologies for cellular phone OEM and ODM customers.
Mobile 365 - Mobile 365 now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary, under the name Sybase 365. Sybase 365 is the global leader in mobile interoperator messaging, including SMS (Short Message Service), MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) and IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem), delivering more than 3.5 billion messages per month. Through its extensive network of approximately 700 mobile operators, Sybase 365 is focused on enabling the world's leading content providers and global brands to mobilize their content and applications. The acquisition solidly positions Sybase between mobile operators, content providers and global brands, further extending our worldwide leadership in enterprise mobility.
Solonde - Solonde's extract, transform and load (ETL) capabilities advance Sybase’s Unwired Enterprise strategy by providing a more complete range of data integration solutions to its global customers. Enterprises can make better business intelligence decisions based on a consolidated view of data from multiple heterogeneous sources. 2005
Extended Systems - Extended Systems’ patented, powerful, end-to-end enterprise information mobility offering was incorporated into Sybase’s iAnywhere subsidiary. The combined offering delivers more benefits of the Unwired Enterprise.
Avaki - Avaki’s technology, which helps companies in data intensive industries deploy their business information systems faster and at lower cost, was incorporated into Sybase’s core group of information management solutions. It enables advanced applications to be built in a virtual, service oriented architecture, rapidly and easily pulling together information from a variety of sources and locations, helping to get further returns on from existing technology investments.
ISDD - ISDD’s unstructured data management technology and solutions were incorporated into Sybase’s core products to further expand and differentiate its innovative information management and mobility solutions. This is a major benefit for our many customers with unstructured data management requirements, especially in some of our key verticals like financial, healthcare and government.” 2004
Xcellenet - XcelleNet frontline management products, Afaria and RemoteWare, which allow companies to centrally manage and secure technology used by mobile and remote employees, were integrated into Sybase’s iAnywhere Solutions subsidiary, increasing Sybase’s abilities to help companies arm workers with anytime, anywhere access to critical information.
Dejima - Dejima’s patented technology to simplify access to backend data, applications and information was integrated to Sybase’s iAnywhere Solutions product family. 2003
Avantgo - AvantGo is a leading provider of mobile enterprise software. AvantGo, now part of iAnywhere Solutions, strengthens our leadership position in the mobile middleware market. Sybase with AvantGo now offers m-Business solutions unrivaled in the industry, uniquely addressing enterprise mobility of Web content, corporate data and applications. 2002
Onepage - OnePage, Inc.’s technology and applications for building portlets were combined with Sybase’s already robust Enterprise Portal product to reduce the time and cost associated with deploying portals, enabling administrators to instantly deliver a new Web service or information source to thousands of users. 2001
New Era of Networks - New Era of Networks’ technology—which enables users to integrate and streamline existing business processes and information flow between two or more applications and includes a library of adaptors with pre-defined connections to target applications, mainframes, or legacy systems—was combined with Sybase’s existing integration technologies to provide market leading integration offerings.
