iAnywhere Solutions has created a set of applications, called Solution Samples, for you. These applications were developed to illustrate how UltraLite and MobiLink work in the real world. Our applications are small in scope, but they map directly to current business situations. We want you to take these applications and use them as learning tools, resources for coding techniques and common components, and a foundation for future applications.
ULFoundation (Palm OS III and higher, Windows CE 3.0, Java 1.1.8
and higher, Win32) ULFoundation comes with source code and
project files for the following platforms/IDEs: MetroWerks CodeWarrior (v6,
v7 & v8), Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ (v3), Microsoft Visual C++ (v6),
Java (JDK 1.1.8 and higher). There are projects for the Embedded SQL API (ESQL),
the C++ API and the Java API. During the install, the user may select one
or more of these platforms. It has been tested on Windows 98/ME, Windows
2000, and Windows XP in conjunction with SQL Anywhere Studio 8.0.1 VBF
3036.
Patient Medical Chart (Palm OS III and higher) PMC comes with both compiled binaries and source code, which gives you
the opportunity to test the functionality of the Sample Solution right after
it is installed, while also allowing you to modify the solution and
recompile it to learn how the components work together. The source code
comes with a CodeWarrior 6.0 project, and has been tested on Windows 95/98,
Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP in conjunction with SQL Anywhere
Studio 8.0.2 VBF 4122.
Pharmaceutical Sample Distribution (Palm OS III and higher) PSD comes with both compiled binaries and source code, which gives you
the opportunity to test the functionality of the Sample Solution right after
it is installed, while also allowing you to modify the solution and
recompile it to learn how the components work together. The source code
comes with a CodeWarrior 6.0 project, and has been tested on Windows 95/98,
Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP in conjunction with SQL Anywhere
Studio 8.0.2 VBF 4122.
Inventory (Palm OS III and higher, Symbol scanner) Inventory comes with both compiled binaries and source code, which gives
you the opportunity to test the functionality of the Sample Solution right
after it is installed, while also allowing you to modify the solution and
recompile it to learn how the components work together. The source code
comes with a CodeWarrior 6.0 project, and has been tested on Windows 95/98,
Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP in conjunction with SQL Anywhere
Studio 8.0.2 VBF 4122.
Package Tracking System (Palm OS III and higher, Symbol scanner) PTS comes with both compiled binaries and source code, which gives you
the opportunity to test the functionality of the Sample Solution right after
it is installed, while also allowing you to modify the solution and
recompile it to learn how the components work together. The source code
comes with a CodeWarrior 6.0 project, and has been tested on Windows 95/98,
Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP in conjunction with SQL Anywhere
Studio 8.0.2 VBF 4122.
Restaurant Order Taking System (Palm OS III and higher) Restaurant comes with both compiled binaries and source code, which gives
you the opportunity to test the functionality of the Sample Solution right
after it is installed, while also allowing you to modify the solution and
recompile it to learn how the components work together. The source code
comes with a CodeWarrior 6.0 project, and has been tested on Windows 95/98,
Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP in conjunction with the Palm OS
Emulator and SQL Anywhere Studio 8.0.2 VBF 4122.

A starter application demonstrating data synchronization using UltraLite and
MobiLink. ULFoundation was developed as a base platform on which to start
the development of a new UltraLite application as well as a learning tool. The
goal of this project is to allow developers to understand the portions of an
application which directly relate to UltraLite. Platform-specific functionality
has been kept to a minimum. The code has been written to be
platform-independent where possible.
A handheld application for doctors working in a hospital. Each ward in
the hospital has a workstation in the nurse's station. The nurses use the
workstation to enter patient information. The doctors in the hospital then
download their patient information onto their handheld devices and use the
device when doing their rounds.
A handheld application for taking inventory at a hardware store. Each
employee that is taking inventory is equipped with a scanning device (Symbol
SPT 1700) and counts the inventory for each department. After taking
inventory, employees upload the infromation to the main server. On the main
server is a management application which shows the count of all products in
the inventory and allows the manager to see any errors reported with
products and to add new products to the database.
A handheld package tracking system for a courier company. Packages are
scanned using handheld devices to record their pickup, checkpoint arrival, and
delivery. As soon as a package arrives in a particular city, it is scanned and
recorded with a Palm device, hence avoiding the human error naturally associated
with data entry and large amounts of data. When a package is delivered, the
customer signs for the package on the handheld device itself. The signature is
saved electronically into the database along with other relevant information,
thereby reducing paperwork and the necessary organization of a large number of
forms.
