Enclosed is Sybase® Industry Warehouse Studio™ for Healthcare 5.0, a data warehouse solution for the Healthcare industry.
This version of Industry Warehouse Studio (IWS) includes a set of customizable Healthcare Analytics reports that support the business needs of Healthcare industry decision makers, along with data models, test data, and a complete methodology for creating a data warehouse. It also includes mapping specifications to assist you in bringing data from a Sybase HIPAA Repository database into your data warehouse.
This version of Industry Warehouse Studio for Healthcare is integrated with BusinessObjects®. You can run the Healthcare Analytics reports in both a BusinessObjects client/server environment and a BusinessObjects WebIntelligence™ web client/server environment.
IWS for Healthcare 5.0 requires the executable tools in Warehouse Studio® 5.0, a companion product to IWS. The Industry Warehouse Studio product family gives you full access to the underlying data models, sample data, and tools, so that you can customize the applications and models to meet the needs of your organization.
2.1 Industry Warehouse Studio components
The Industry Warehouse Studio for Healthcare CD includes files you need to install, customize, and run the application as a BusinessObjects client and in your web browser, including:
An Installation Key (serial number) is required to install IWS for Healthcare. This confidential key is on a paper document enclosed in the package. Be sure to keep installation keys and product CDs in a safe place.
For a complete list of IWS documentation, see “9. Documentation”.
2.2 Warehouse Studio components
Warehouse Studio is a separately purchasable companion product to Industry Warehouse Studio. To view the IWS for Healthcare 5.0 data model, customize the model or Healthcare Analytics application, access the data, or change the warehouse design, you need the executable tools supplied on the Warehouse Studio 5.0 CDs.
Warehouse Studio ensures that you have the correct versions of these tools. Without the correct versions of Warehouse Studio tools, you cannot work with IWS.
For more information on Warehouse Studio components and the keys you need to install them, see Release Bulletin Sybase Warehouse Studio 5.0.

Make sure you have the correct data model.
Before using this product, contact your Sybase representative to be sure that you have the correct and latest data model for your IWS application.
4. Migrating from previous versions
The IWS 5.0 release relies on the data model that is installed in the \Model folder within your installed directory structure. You must use the model that is shipped with this release. If you have questions, contact your Sybase representative to be sure that you have the correct and latest data model for your application.
4.1 Viewing model differences
Because Industry Warehouse Studio applications are designed to be customized, you cannot directly upgrade an older data model to the newest one. However, if you have an older version of IWS, and if you retained your original WAM or PDM file from the earlier version, you can use the PowerDesigner 9.5.2 Repository (with Web Update) to display changes in the Version 5.0 submodels.
Models to compare may reside either in the PowerDesigner 9.5.2 Repository or in the PowerDesigner 9.5.2 workspace.
Refer to the PowerDesigner online documentation for more information.
To view model changes in PowerDesigner 9.5.2:
Differences are indicated with an exclamation point (!) icon on the objects in the Compare Models window. Objects that exist in one model, but not the other, are indicated with a red exclamation point.
Further information on differences is available in the Properties section at the bottom of the window, when an object is selected above.
The model comparison shows many differences in the models, especially when comparing a WAM to a PDM, due to the change in model structures between WarehouseArchitect and PowerDesigner 9 and higher. Reviewing the model changes is easier, if you reduce the number of differences shown.
To reduce the number of model differences shown:
When comparing a WAM file you see mirror tables for views in the old model that do not exist in the new model. Also, the tables and views in the new model are owned by packages, instead of by the physical model at the top level.
5. New features and enhancements
This section describes new features and enhancements in this version of IWS for Healthcare.
5.1 Healthcare Analytics application
IWS for Healthcare 5.0 offers the Healthcare Analytics application, which helps managers in healthcare businesses better understand their claim-related financial results, membership enrollments, and provider behavior and performance. Healthcare Analytics reports are now visualized in BusinessObjects for the client/server environment, and for WebIntelligence in the Web environment.
This version of the IWS Healthcare model supports both the insurance and provider perspective. The predefined Healthcare Analytics reports in this release focus on the business concerns of insurers, examining these business areas:
5.2 Analytics support for HIPAA Repository data
IWS for Healthcare provides analytics support for Sybase HIPAA Repository in two important ways:
This release of IWS for Healthcare supports HIPAA Repository data from the 834, 835, and 837 transactions.
The Sybase HIPAA Repository is a separately purchasable product that lets payers, clearing houses, and providers maintain a centralized repository of all HIPAA X12 data elements, helping them improve the effectiveness of their business processes. HIPAA is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. It requires standardization of electronic patient data, unique health identifiers for individuals, employers, health plans, and health care providers, and security standards to protect the privacy and integrity of individuals’ health information.
5.3 Support for view column business names and descriptions
In this release of IWS for Healthcare, PowerDesigner extended attributes provide support for view column business names and descriptions. Two new attributes, IWS Business Name and IWS Description, are now visible on the properties sheet for all view columns. This new information is available as metadata to the Warehouse Control Center, and is therefore available for export to front-end tools.
Creating extended attributes for view columns
Any new views added to the IWS model automatically inherit these new attributes. However, if you want to add these attributes to a new model or an older version of the IWS, follow this procedure.
To create PowerDesigner extended attributes:
Viewing extended attributes for view columns
Extended attributes for view columns are visible by default in the tree view. To see them in the object view, however, each user must perform the following procedure. This procedure adds extended attributes to the Properties sheet for view columns.
To display extended attributes for view columns:
6. Product compatibilities
This section lists Sybase and third-party products and versions supported for use with Industry Warehouse Studio for Healthcare 5.0.
Warehouse Studio components
For more information on Warehouse Studio, refer to Release Bulletin Warehouse Studio 5.0.
Other Industry Warehouse Studio industries and applications
Industry Warehouse Studio 5.0 Healthcare Analytics applications are compatible with other applications built using the same IWS data model. Applications built using an earlier version of the model, or a customized version of the model, may or may not be compatible, or may require modification to become compatible. To learn whether a particular IWS application is compatible with your application, contact your Sybase representative. See also “4.1 Viewing model differences”.
Business intelligence tool certification
Industry Warehouse Studio 5.0 Healthcare Analytics applications are certified with BusinessObjects 5.1.6 and WebIntelligence 2.7.2. Sybase suggests contacting Business Objects for the latest maintenance version of these products. To install these products, see the BusinessObjects and WebIntelligence documentation.
Sybase Warehouse Studio tools let you export the IWS data structure for use with other vendors’ front-end tools. In order to use the IWS analytics applications with other front ends, however, you must modify the reports, and in some cases the underlying data model. If you need this capability, contact your Sybase representative.
Warehouse database support
Sybase IQ 12.5 is required to use the IWS for Healthcare 5.0 sample database as delivered by Sybase. You can use the sample data load files provided with IWS for Healthcare on all supported Sybase IQ 12.5 platforms. Updates to Sybase IQ are available for download on the Sybase web site. You may need to update both Client and Server components.
Although Industry Warehouse Studio models use Sybase Adaptive Server IQ 12.5 as a target warehouse database, you can create a database using another RDBMS. For information on the necessary modifications to the IWS components, see the Sybase Industry Warehouse Studio System Integrator's Guide and the chapter “Creating an IWS Sample Database” in Industry Warehouse Studio for Healthcare Installation and Configuration Guide.
HIPAA Repository certification
Data mapping specifications and staging area objects provided with IWS for Healthcare 5.0 support ETL from a Sybase HIPAA Repository 4.2 source database. Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5, Oracle 9i, and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 are certified for use as the HIPAA Repository source database.
Operating system certification
Industry Warehouse Studio 5.0 applications have been certified on Windows 2000.
Microsoft Internet software certification
IWS for Healthcare 5.0 is certified with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, although you may find that the web client also works with other versions of IE. IWS for Healthcare is certified with Microsoft IIS 5.0.
7. Known issues
The following issues exist for this release. Workarounds are included when available.
7.1 SQL inserts
There are records in both the D_CORE_RPT_STRC.csv and D_PRODUCT.csv SQL insert files that include the ampersand character (&) within data values. This causes the SQL script to pause execution. If you choose to escape, that record is inserted, but execution continues.
The ampersand character within data values causes no problem for Adaptive Server IQ, but may be an issue if the .csv files are used to load data into another RDBMS.
Add an escape character in front of the ampersands (&) within the files before execution.
8. BusinessObjects limitations
The following issues with the IWS for Healthcare reports are due to limitations of Business Objects WebIntelligence or the BusinessObjects client. Workarounds are included when available.
8.1 WebIntelligence reports
The following issues are due to limitations of Business Objects WebIntelligence.
8.1.1 Y-axis values duplicate after drill
The values on the Y-axis of a graphical report duplicate after a drill, when you refine your drill filters with very limited results. This problem has been submitted to Business Objects.
Workaround: Change the precision of the Y-axis. For example, if the Y-axis is set to integers, you might see 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3. If you change the precision to tenths, the Y-axis changes to 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5.
8.1.2 Drilling sort order
In WebIntelligence, sorting can only be performed in ascending or descending order. There is no custom sort option. For example, the Primary ICD9 Code drill is sorted by alphabetical order.
8.1.3 Missing column headers
Crosstab reports in WebIntelligence may not have column headers on all of the columns. WebIntelligence has no option to add headers to columns in a crosstab.
8.1.4 Sum and total sum rows have same label
At the end of some reports, the sum and total sum rows are both labeled “Sum.” WebIntelligence has no option to modify these row labels.
8.1.5 Horizontal alignment of drill options
On a web browser, the list of drill downs is aligned horizontally, which sometimes requires scrolling back and forth to see all of the drill options. This is the WebIntelligence default display of drilling options.
8.1.6 Drilling restrictions on some reports
Some IWS for Healthcare reports have no drilling options when run from a web browser. The BusinessObjects client versions of these reports contain subqueries, which WebIntelligence does not support. You can drill into most of these reports by running the report from the BusinessObjects client.
See the following table for other drilling restrictions.
For complete details on drilling options for the IWS for Healthcare reports, see the Industry Warehouse Studio for Healthcare Analytics User's Guide.
8.1.7 “No data to fetch.” message from WebIntelligence
WebIntelligence returns the message “No data to fetch. (WI0500)” if you select Run Query to the database and there is no data that matches the drill values you have specified. This is normal behavior.
8.1.8 “This page is empty.” message from WebIntelligence
WebIntelligence returns the message “This page is empty. (WI0100)” if you select Run Query and there is a problem connecting to the database. This is normal behavior.
Check that your database server is running and restart the server, if necessary.
8.1.9 Drilling to a low level
If you drill a graphical display report to the point where most of the data has been filtered out, the resulting graph may look unusual.
8.1.10 Axis labels overlap the chart
When drilling a report in WebIntelligence, the axis labels sometime overlap the chart when the report redisplays. This is a BusinessObjects limitation, as the current version of WebIntelligence does not allow the repositioning of axis labels.
8.2 BusinessObjects client reports
The following issues are due to limitations of the client version of BusinessObjects.
8.2.1 Axis labels do not change after drill
The axis labels for all reports containing bar charts (two dimensional and three dimensional) do not change when you drill on the chart. BusinessObjects cannot link the label to the chart. An enhancement request has been submitted to Business Objects for consideration in the next release.
8.2.2 Adding Columns to Tables
8.2.3 Prompt Formats
If you add formatting to a prompt value (i.e., commas, dollar signs, dashes, etc.), the report will return all values instead of those specified in the prompt. BO has been notified of this issue.
8.2.4 Some columns too narrow after drill
After drilling, some columns are not wide enough to display the entire column header or the entire field of data. To work around this problem and widen the column, use your mouse to drag to the right the right column divider of the narrow column.
8.2.5 Border around drilled down table headers
After the drill function for a non-graphical report with table headers is turned off (by clicking the Drill magnifying glass button), the drilled down table headers redisplay surrounded by a border. This is normal BusinessObjects client report behavior.
8.2.6 No headers on “Move to block” columns
Some columns created by selecting “Move to block” in the drop-down drill box do not have headers. This is normal BusinessObjects behavior. To move the column back to a drop-down drill box, right click on the column and select Set as Drill Filter.
8.2.7 Additional drills available
If you right-click Drill By in some reports, you find that there are more dimensions available for drilling than are listed in the original drop-down menu drills. The drop-down items act as Drill Filters. The format of the report does not change when you use a drop-down drill; only the data returned changes. The right-click Drill By changes the format of the report based on where you click and which item you select; the data returned for the selected dimension is unfiltered.
8.2.8 Drilling to a low level
If you drill a graphical display report to the point where most of the data has been filtered out, the resulting graph may look unusual.
8.2.9 Sum labels disappear when using the Drill Up option
If you select the Drill Up option after using Drill By or Drill Through, the Sum labels will be missing. This issue has been reported to Business Objects and is scheduled to be corrected in a future release of that product.
8.3 Universe export procedure issue
If the total length of the pathname of a universe (.unv) file is greater than 128 characters, then BusinessObjects Supervisor does not respond when you click the Parameters button in the Export Universe dialog or when you attempt to remove the universe from the universes list.
The workaround for this problem is to use BusinessObjects Designer to export the universe or to shorten the pathname to 128 characters or less.

10. Documentation updates and clarifications
This sections describes items that were omitted from the documentation, and some new information that needs emphasis.
10.1 Sybase IQ database options reset
The script that loads the sample data into the Sybase IQ database option Query_Temp_Space_Limit to 0. This option setting is necessary for refreshing data when running the IWS for Healthcare reports as a BusinessObjects client.
The load script also sets the Sybase IQ database options Main_Cache_Memory_MB and Temp_Cache_Memory_MB to 32. These values are the minimum requirement for the IWS for Healthcare sample database. More appropriate settings are:
set option public.Main_Cache_Memory_MB = 128; set option public.Temp_Cache_Memory_MB = 256;
For more information on setting these IQ database options, refer to the version 12.5 Adaptive Server IQ Administration and Performance Guide and the Adaptive Server IQ Reference Manual.
10.2 Report examples in the documentation
The report examples in the documentation illustrate running the IWS for Healthcare reports and show possible results. The data in the examples may not match the sample data exactly.
10.3 SQL and TPL files
All application SQL files are saved as .tpl files (.tpl indicates TEMPLATE). This implies that the SQL file needs modification – for example, the _O_W_N_E_R_ variable must be changed, as described in “Creating an IWS Sample Database” in your application documentation.
Many of the application SQL files have been separated into more than one file for each report. If you intend to run the SQL from within a Business Intelligence tool rather than a simple SQL editor, you may wish to combine the separate SQL into a single statement, which will allow you to analyze data by several dimensions at once.
In the documentation, .tpl and .sql are used interchangeably.
10.4 Default OwnerID on SQL files
All application SQL files, as well as the indexes.sql file included with all models, contain a default OwnerID. These files must be updated with the database for the local database implementation. Replace all occurrences of _O_W_N_E_R_ with the OwnerID for the warehouse database.
To do this quickly, you may use the IWSUPDT.EXE application provided in the <IWS Install Path>\Win32 directory to make these updates. You can also access this program from the start menu by selecting Start → Programs →Sybase → Industry Warehouse Studio 5.0, selecting the IWS component and product, if necessary, then selecting IWS Update Utility.
10.5 Updating OwnerID in the PDM Files
The default OwnerID (_O_W_N_E_R_) for each table and view in the PDM must be changed to the actual database owner under which the IWS tables are created. You must save this change within the PDM file before creating DDL for your database. You must also save this change within the PDM file before importing the PDM into Warehouse Control Center. This ensures that your metadata is consistent with your physical warehouse database.
10.6 Time Period values in demo database
In the demonstration warehouse database, the D_TIME_PERIOD table is populated with a row whose ID is equal to 0. A Time Period ID of 0 signifies an undetermined future date. For example, many tables contain both Begin Date and End Date columns as foreign keys to Time Period. For any given set of measurements, these tables should always have one “current” record whose End Date ID value is 0.
10.7 Column values in HC_Impact_Analysis.xls
Not all columns values on the Healthcare by Report worksheet in HC_Impact_Analysis.xls have been verified.
11. Technical support
