  • Windows® 2000 Service Pack 4 or higher

  • Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 or higher

For additional details on system and platform requirements, see the HIPAA Accelerator Installation Guide. For information on how to use Sybase HIPAA Accelerator, see the Sybase HIPAA Accelerator User's Guide.

3. What’s in the box?

Sybase HIPAA Accelerator includes the following components.

Contains all of the components you need to install, configure, and run Sybase HIPAA Accelerator in a Windows environment. Also contains user documentation.

  • Getting Started Sybase HIPAA Accelerator CD

Contains this release bulletin and the HIPAA Accelerator Installation Guide, the Sybase HIPAA Accelerator User's Guide, and Sybase HIPAA Accelerator New Features Guide in PDF format.

See also “8. Other sources of information”.

4. New features and behavior changes

In Sybase HIPAA Accelerator 6.0, user documentation is included on the Getting Started CD, rather than on the product CD.

See the Sybase HIPAA Accelerator New Features Guide for an overview of the new and changed functionality to Sybase HIPAA Accelerator 6.0 and the Sybase HIPAA Accelerator User's Guide for details on new features.

4.1 837P Errors reported on purchased service [CR 429858]

The version 5.0.16 837P compliance map reports errors on purchased service from the default flow level, as expected.

4.2 276 Loop 2200E AMT segment error [CR 423891]

The 276 compliance map mirrors the Implementation Guide rules, which state that the 2200E AMT segment is required when the subscriber is not the patient and when the SVC segment in 2210E loop is not present.

4.3 837P Error on N4 segment [CR 427319]

The 837P compliance map no longer incorrectly reports that the 2330A N403 contains invalid characters when there is no value in the N403 field in the input.

4.4 837P Loop 2000A PRV segment error [CR 428270]

The 837P compliance map incorrectly reported the error “2000A PRV invalid when 2010AA or 2010AB NM102=2 and 2310B NM1 present” when the 2310B NM1 is not present. The map was modified and the issue has been resolved.

4.5 837I Numeric values in SV206 [CR 429022]

The 837I compliance map requires a numeric value in SV206 when SV201 is between 100 and 219. If the value in SV206 was 0, the map incorrectly reported an error that SV206 is empty. This map has been updated and no longer reports this as an error.

4.6 Cross-reference table and rule validates NPI codes [CR 370584]

Sybase HIPAA Accelerator 6.0 added NPI (National Provider Identifier) validation to all maps. Edit checks are performed on the NPI, including the check digit. Although the NPI itself is not validated against any published list; you can enable edits by setting parameter 9 in ECMap to “Y.”

4.7 837I preserves negative monetary amounts [CR 418808]

The 837I compliance map now preserves negative monetary amounts, as per element 782.

4.8 EIN in REF segments [CR 400306]

The EIN (Employer Identification Number) edits added in a previous Sybase HIPAA Accelerator release did not account for EIN edits in REF segments. In Sybase HIPAA Accelerator 6.0, the EIN edits cover all occurrences, not just those in NM1 segments. You enable EIN edits by setting parameter 8 in ECMap to “Y.”

4.9 Program menu shortcut

Sybase HIPAA Accelerator 6.0 does not install a Programs menu shortcut.

5. Product compatibilities

Sybase HIPAA Accelerator is built on top of the EDI product set, ECMap and ECRTP, and runs on ECMap. The platform support and requirements information are the same for Sybase HIPAA Accelerator as for ECMap.

Starting with Sybase HIPAA Accelerator 5.0.16 and Sybase HIPAA Accelerator 6.0, HA maps are backward-compatible to the following:

  • ECMap 4.0.11 and higher (on the 4. 0.x code line)

  • ECMap 4.2.4 and higher (on the 4.2.x code line)

If you intend to modify and test the maps and set up trading partner agreements using ECMap or ECRTP, you need the following:

  • ECMap 4.2.6 or higher for 275 and 277RQ maps

  • ECRTP (version associated with ECMap release)

Note:

An ODBC-compliant database that supports auto-increment fields is required for logging and trade partner management.

6. Documentation updates and clarifications

This section contains information omitted from documentation and new information that needs emphasis.

See Sybase HIPAA Accelerator New Features Guide for a description of changes to the Sybase HIPAA Accelerator documentation set in version 6.0.

6.1 Sybase HIPAA Accelerator Installation Guide

This section contains updates to HIPAA Accelerator Installation Guide.

6.1.1 Sybase HIPAA Accelerator map backward compatibility

In the “Supported platforms” section in Chapter 1, “System Requirements,” the ECMap version listed for compatibility with Sybase HIPAA Accelerator maps is incorrect.

Starting with Sybase HIPAA Accelerator 5.0.16 and Sybase HIPAA Accelerator 6.0, maps are backward-compatible to ECMap 4.0.11 and higher on the 4. 0.x code line and ECMap 4.2.4 and higher on the 4.2.x code line.

6.2 Sybase HIPAA Accelerator User’s Guide

This section contains updates to Sybase HIPAA Accelerator User's Guide.

6.2.1 WEDI-SNIP testing types supported

The Sybase HIPAA Accelerator User's Guide, Chapter 1, Table 1-1, “WEDI/SNIP testing types supported by Sybase HIPAA Accelerator,” incorrectly states that Sybase HIPAA Accelerator supports medical code sets. The text should read, “Sybase supports code sets defined in the HIPAA IG, but not code sets defined by external sources, medical or otherwise.”

7. Technical support

Each Sybase installation that has purchased a support contract has one or more designated people who are authorized to contact Sybase Technical Support. If you have any questions about this installation or if you need assistance during the installation process, ask the designated person to contact Sybase Technical Support or the Sybase subsidiary in your area.

8. Other sources of information
