The Replication Server® Options (RSO) are only available separately from Replication Server. Also, you must already have Replication Server to obtain any Replication Server Options.
The Replication Server Options can be used with Replication Server for bidirectional replication across distributed, heterogeneous systems to allow you to perform different operational and decision-support tasks.
The Replication Server Options are compatible with the same platform and operating system configurations as Enterprise Connect Data Access™ (ECDA) 12.6.1 and Sybase Replication Agent™ 15.0. For specific hardware and software requirements, refer to the documentation for ECDA 12.6.1 and Sybase Replication Agent 15.0.
For more information, refer to the Replication Server Heterogeneous Replication Guide.
Replication Server Options are available for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and IBM DB2 Universal Database (UDB). Each option contains licenses for accessing data only in the specified data source.
Note:Before version 12.5, ECDA options were sold as individual DirectConnect products named “DirectConnect for [target].” You will see the name “DirectConnect” used in the software and in documents, including this document.
As shown, all options contain ECDA and Replication Agent.
Special installation instructions
This section documents installation issues not covered in Replication Server Options component installation guides.
Replication Server Options licenses
For Replication Agent, review Chapter 3 of the Sybase Software Asset Management 2.0 User’s Guide.
For ECDA, use the static license included in the product documentation. To register this license, refer to the ECDA Installation Guides.
Note:Replication Agent uses SySAM 2.0, but ECDA uses SySAM 1.0. To allow these two versions of SySAM to work together, see instructions in Appendix F in the Sybase Software Asset Management 2.0 User’s Guide.
The known issues for the Replication Server Options are listed below. For known issues concerning the Replication Agent and Enterprise Connect Data Access component products, see the following documents:
Known Sybase Installer issues
This section describes known issues with the Sybase Installer that are not specific to a particular data server type.
Cannot view text fields properly when using a Hummingbird Exceed client
If you use Hummingbird Exceed from a Windows workstation to install Sybase Replication Agent on a UNIX host, you might not be able to view all of the text fields on the Sybase Installer windows.
Workaround: Use a native X-Windows session to run the Sybase Installer, or run the Sybase Installer in console or silent mode. For details, see the Sybase Replication Agent Installation Guide.
Each Sybase installation that has purchased a support contract has one or more designated people who are authorized to contact Sybase Technical Support. If you have any questions about this installation or if you need assistance during the installation process, ask the designated person to contact Sybase Technical Support or the Sybase subsidiary in your area.

This document is available in an HTML version that is specialized for accessibility. You can navigate the HTML with an adaptive technology such as a screen reader, or view it with a screen enlarger.
Replication Server Options version 15.0 and the HTML documentation have been tested for compliance with U.S. government Section 508 Accessibility requirements. Documents that comply with Section 508 generally also meet non-U.S. accessibility guidelines, such as the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) guidelines for Web sites.
The online help for this product is also provided in HTML, which you can navigate using a screen reader.
Note:You might need to configure your accessibility tool for optimal use. Some screen readers pronounce text based on its case; for example, they pronounce ALL UPPERCASE TEXT as initials, and MixedCase Text as words. You might find it helpful to configure your tool to announce syntax conventions. Consult the documentation for your tool.
