Accessing release bulletins at the Sybase Product Manuals Web site
  1. Go to Product Manuals.

  2. Select a product and language and click Go.

  3. Select a product version from the Document Set list.

Special installation instructions

Before installing the Unwired Orchestrator Production Edition, review the following information.


Installing Sybase IQ with Unwired Orchestrator

Description: When installing Sybase IQ with Unwired Orchestrator on Windows or Solaris, if you first install Unwired Orchestrator and then install Sybase IQ, the EAServer plug-in may not be registered in Sybase Central™ 4.3.

Workaround: To resolve this issue, use the following procedure.

Installing Sybase IQ with Unwired Orchestrator
  1. Before you install Sybase IQ, back up the .scRepository file located in the <install_dir>\DevRuntime\Shared\Sybase Central 4.3 directory, where <install_dir> is the directory in which you have installed Sybase WorkSpace.

  2. Install Sybase IQ.

  3. Add the contents of the backed-up .scRepository file to the new .scRepository file.


Setting up the Oracle JDBC driver

To use the Oracle JDBC™ Driver for database services, you must set up the Oracle JDBC driver.

Setting up the Oracle JDBC driver
  1. Add the Oracle JDBC driver JAR file to the following directory:

    <installation directory>\EAServer\java\lib<filename>

  2. Unzip and extract the files to:

    <installation directory>\EAServer\java\classes

Unwired Orchestrator issues

The following issues are known for the Unwired Orchestrator Production Edition.


Cursors in Oracle stored procedures not supported

The use of cursors as parameters in an Oracle database stored procedure is not supported for Unwired Orchestrator. If you attempt to discover a result set for an Oracle stored procedure that uses cursors as parameters, you may encounter errors.


Java exception when starting or stopping Unwired Orchestrator

CR #429756

Description: The following Java Remote Method Protocol (JRMP) exception may appear in a DOS window when you try to start or stop Unwired Orchestrator 5.1:

javax.naming.notfoundexception

This exception results from a difference in default port numbers between the SybAgent port used by Unwired Orchestrator and the Sybase IQ Agent port, which is 1099.

Workaround: To resolve this issue, do one of the following:

  • Start the Sybase IQ Agent on a port number different from the default 1099 using the DASIQPORT parameter:

    			 -DASIQPORT=<portnum>
    	

    Here, <portnum> is the desired port number. For more information, see the Sybase IQ System Administration Guide.

  • Start SybAgent on a different port number. To do this, you must change your SybAgent port configuration.

Changing the SybAgent port configuration
  1. Open the boot.xml file at <install_dir>\Orch-5_1\EAServer\SysMgmt, where <install_dir> is the directory in which you have installed Unwired Orchestrator.

  2. Edit the boot.xml file as follows:

    1. Insert the following attribute on line 55:

      						<attribute name="Port">xxxx</attribute>
      		

      Where xxxx is the port value you want to use.

    2. Replace the port number in line 78 to the same port you used in line 55, for example:

      						<param
      		type="java.lang.Object">rmi://banglor:xxxx
      		</param>
      		
  3. Open the StopSybAgent.bat file at <install_dir>\Orch-5_1\EAServer\SysMgmt\bin.

  4. Edit the StopSybAgent.bat file. Replace the port number on line 24 with the port number you used in the boot.xml file.

Log Viewer does not automatically update

Description: Newly generated logging information for Unwired Orchestrator is not updated in the Log Viewer component of the Profiling and Logging perspective.

Workaround: To ensure that logging information is shown in the Log Viewer, use the following procedure:

Setting up the Unwired Orchestrator logging agent
  1. Download the TPTP Agent Controller and Generic Log Adapter from the Eclipse downloads Web site.

  2. Configure the Agent Controller. Instructions are available in the getting_started.html document available with the Agent Controller download or on the Eclipse Web site.

  3. Launch the Agent Controller.

  4. Configure the Generic Log Adapter according to the instructions given in <gla_install>/bin/gla.bat, where gla_install is the installation directory for your Generic Log Adapter.

  5. In <uo_home>/templates/runUOLogAdapter.bat, where <uo_home> is the location of your Unwired Orchestrator installation, replace AC_HOME with the root directory of your Agent Controller installation and GLA_HOME with the root directory of your Generic Log Adapter installation.

  6. In <uo_home>/templates/UOLogRuleParser.adapter, change the following lines to match the location of the log file on your machine:

    			<pu:Property propertyName="directory" propertyValue="."/>
    	<pu:Property propertyName="fileName"propertyValue="Unwired.log.0"/>
    	<sensor:SingleFileSensor directory="." fileName="Unwired.log.0"/>
    	

    For example, if <jaguar> indicates the root directory of your EAServer installation, change the lines to the following:

    			<pu:Property propertyName="directory" propertyValue="<jaguar>\bin"/>
    	<pu:Property propertyName="fileName"propertyValue="Unwired.log.0"/>
    	<sensor:SingleFileSensor directory="<jaguar>\bin" fileName="Unwired.log.0"/>
    	
  7. Start the Generic Log Adapter with the following command:

    			<uo_home>/templates/runUOLogAdapter.bat <uo_home>/templates/UOLog_RuleParser.adapter
    	

    Here, <uo_home> indicates the root directory of your Sybase WorkSpace installation.

  8. In Eclipse, open the preferences page at Windows | Preferences | Profiling and Logging. Make sure the Enable logging option is selected.

  9. In Eclipse, select Run | Profile, and select Attach - Java Process from the Profile wizard. Click New.

  10. Click the Host tab, and specify the host for your Agent Controller.

  11. Click the Agents tab, and specify UOLogAgentOutputter.

  12. Click Apply, Profile, and Close.

  13. If you need to start profiling, right-click the log entry in the Profiling and Logging perspective, and choose Start Profiling. To refresh the log, right-click the log entry in the Profiling and Logging perspective, and select Refresh Views.


Quartz timer does not return messages

CR #432075

Description: Data is not returned after a delay activity in a business process. The Quartz timer database appears to hang, and there may be nothing in the Quartz log file indicating a problem. This issue only affects the Unwired Orchestrator 5.1 Runtime Production Edition running on Sun Solaris.

Workaround: To resolve this issue, modify the Quartz startup script.

Modifying the Quartz startup script
  1. Stop Unwired Orchestrator by executing the or51rtimeEAS_stop.sh script in the <uo_home>/bin/ directory, where <uo_home> is the location of your Unwired Orchestrator installation.

  2. At the end of the quartz.sh script in the <uo_home>/bin/ directory, there are two Java command statements. In these statements, remove the double quotes around the Java Options environment variable. For example, change "${JAVA_OPTS}" to ${JAVA_OPTS}.

  3. Restart Unwired Orchestrator by executing the or51rtimeEAS_start.sh script in the <uo_home>/bin/ directory.

  4. Retest your business process.


Service package deployment fails

Description: An attempt to deploy a service package fails with the following:

  • The server log file reports the following error:

    			javax.naming.NamingException: <details of error> Root exception is org.omg.CORBA.OBJECT_NOT_EXIST
    	
  • The agent.log file reports the following warning:

    			WARN com.sybase.management.jmx.system.XMLLoader-processServiceNode: Failure starting the service <RMIRegistry>
    : java.rmi.server.ExportException: Port already in user:1099; nested exception is: java.net.BindException:
    Address already in use: JVM_Bind
  • The SybAgent console reports the following exception:

    			Error shutting remote Agent down: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException.jrmp
    	

Workaround: This problem occurs when an attempt is made to start the Unwired Orchestrator runtime while a process other than SybAgent is already listening on the default TCP/IP port 1099. See “Resolving an EAServer RMI Registry Port Conflict” in the Sybase WorkSpace Server Administration collection for instructions on resolving this conflict.


EAServer shutdown script fails

Description: On Sun Solaris, running the or51rtimeEAS_stop.sh shutdown script may not shut down EAServer on the first try.

Workaround: Run the or51rtimeEAS_stop.sh script until EAServer stops.


Unwired Orchestrator errors occur for long PATH variable

CR # 429745

Description: Long global PATH variables cause the following problems:

  • The UOCache.props file is missing at <install_dir>\Orch-5_1\EAServer\Repository\ConnCache, where <install_dir> is the directory in which you have installed Unwired Orchestrator.

  • The config_eas.log file at <install_dir>\Orch-5_1\ismpeLogs may contain the following error:

    			----------------------------------------------------------------------
    	----  Configuring EAServer Message Service..
    	----------------------------------------------------------------------
    	1 file(s) copied.
    	Install Message Service to EAServer
    	Error: ERROR: Failed to Install Message Service to EAServer
    	
  • The config.stderr file at <install_dir>\Orch-5_1\ismpeLogs may contain repeated entries of the following errors:

    			'"D:\Orch-5_1\EAServer\bin\jagtool"' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file. The system cannot find the file specified.

    This file may also contain the following error:

    			The input line is too long.
    	:CALL_JAVA
    	was unexpected at this time.
    	
  • The jagtool executable does not run from the command line.

  • The EAServer Message Service is not configured.

  • EAServer is missing Unwired Orchestrator-related applications, such as JavaMailDriver, IAnywhereDriver, AlertManager, and JMXDriver.

  • The ECCGlobal package is not installed into EAServer.

Workaround: To recover from these errors, use the following procedure:

Recovering from long PATH errors
  1. Stop all servers.

  2. Modify your system PATH to reduce its length.

  3. Read Configuring_UO_standaloneEAS.doc.

  4. Run the configurator to reconfigure Unwired Orchestrator modules in EAServer.

  5. Start Unwired Orchestrator.

  6. Design and deploy services.

Finding the latest information on product certifications
  1. Point your Web browser to Technical Documents.

  2. Click Certification Report.

  3. In the Certification Report filter select a product, platform, and timeframe and then click Go.

  4. Click a Certification Report title to display the report.

Finding the latest information on component certifications
  1. Point your Web browser to Availability and Certification Reports.

  2. Either select the product family and product under Search by Base Product; or select the platform and product under Search by Platform.

  3. Select Search to display the availability and certification report for the selection.

Set up a MySybase profile. MySybase is a free service that allows you to create a personalized view of Sybase Web pages.

Sybase EBFs and software maintenance

Finding the latest information on EBFs and software maintenance
  1. Point your Web browser to the Sybase Support Page.

  2. Select EBFs/Maintenance. If prompted, enter your MySybase user name and password.

  3. Select a product.

  4. Specify a time frame and click Go. A list of EBF/Maintenance releases is displayed.

    Padlock icons indicate that you do not have download authorization for certain EBF/Maintenance releases because you are not registered as a Technical Support Contact. If you have not registered, but have valid information provided by your Sybase representative or through your support contract, click Edit Roles to add the “Technical Support Contact” role to your MySybase profile.

  5. Click the Info icon to display the EBF/Maintenance report, or click the product description to download the software.
