A powerful, unified enterprise design and development environment for the Sybase platform.
WorkSpace combines the power of enterprise modeling with comprehensive tooling capabilities. It is a toolkit that integrates the most important design and development tools in an easy-to-use open-source framework. Enterprise modeling, database development, data federation, Web application development, and services assembly and orchestration all come together for a complete and flexible solution for our clients’ development needs.
The WorkSpace toolkit integrates design and development tools in an easy-to-use open source framework. Based on the industry-leading open-source Eclipse framework, WorkSpace minimizes traditional learning curves for development tooling. Additional Eclipse plug-ins can co-exist with Sybase WorkSpace to provide developers with the exact environment appropriate to their business requirements.
BENEFITS
Gives Sybase customers a single tooling environment for their Sybase servers.
Improves productivity with customizable development environments.
Reduces errors and time spent on mundane tasks.
Reduces the cost of software maintenance through better design discipline.
Improves business agility through faster, more flexible development.
Reduces the complexity of combining legacy and services-oriented applications.
WorkSpace comes with a number of components to help you accomplish your modeling and development tasks. These include:
Database Development
Database Development’s tools allow you to create, edit, save, debug and execute procedural objects, messaging statements and SQL scripts. From stored procedures you can derive database services to integrate with business processes, messaging services or Web services. Database Development also provides wizards to guide you through constructing complex SQL syntax, procedural objects and messaging constructs.
Data Federation
Data Federation lets you combine data from heterogeneous data sources. You can provision data sources, build view models by dragging and dropping input sources, operators and output targets, and deploy the view models as data services. You can also use Data Federation to create and manage your data catalogs
Web Application Development
Web Application Development uses the JavaServer™ Faces (JSF) framework to enable the development, testing, debugging and deployment of a Web application on a runtime server. You can build JavaServer Pages (JSP) for JSF and HTML applications, enabling both visual and code-oriented development. Web Application Development also provides an integrated environment for incorporating DataWindow® technology and building Web applications that interface with public SOAP service invocations.
Services Development
Service Development tools allow you to create, discover, edit, share, test, deploy and publish services. It can automatically create services from data objects, Java components, PowerBuilder components, business processes and messages.
Process Orchestration
You can use Process Orchestration to enable the orchestration of events, activities and other services to provide an integration solution. This component also allows you to create automated processes from all different kinds of services, including ones from across the enterprise that were not created by WorkSpace. Process Orchestration also supports alert messaging and business activity monitoring.
Studio
The Studio module includes all features in Database Development, Data Federation, Web Application Development, Services Development and Process Orchestration components.
DataArchitect
This module includes the major data modeling components: Conceptual Data Model (CDM), Physical Data Model (PDM), Information Liquidity Model (ILM), XML Model (XSM) and Free Model (FRM).
DataArchitect Enterprise
DataArchitect Enterprise includes both the enterprise repository and the features in WorkSpace DataArchitect. The repository allows users to share, manage and re-use modeling information securely across the enterprise.
Designer
This module includes developer-centric modeling techniques specifically designed for application developers using the Unified Modeling Language (UML): the Object Oriented Model (OOM), Physical Data Model (PDM), Information Liquidity Model (ILM), XML Model (XSM) and Free Model (FRM) features.
Designer Enterprise
Designer Enterprise includes the enterprise repository, along with the features in WorkSpace Designer. The repository allows users to share, manage and re-use modeling information securely across the enterprise.
Designer Studio
Designer Studio comprises all modeling techniques, including business process models specifically designed for business analysts and non-IT users. Designer Studio includes Business Process Model (BPM), Object Oriented Model (OOM), Conceptual Data Model (CDM), Physical Data Model (PDM), Information Liquidity Model (ILM), XML Model (XSM) and Free Model (FRM) features.
Designer Studio Enterprise
Designer Studio Enterprise includes the enterprise repository as well as the features in Designer Studio. The repository allows users to share, manage and re-use modeling information securely across the enterprise.
